Snowflake and Chromebook Ratings:

NEW UPDATE:
Added CHROMEBOOK scale to account for traditional snow day rather than virtual

Removed SNOWSTORM RATING SCALE

Most Likely Full Day Snowflake Predictions:

1 snowflake: There will probably be a full day of school.

1.5 snowflakes: There is a 35% chance of a 2-hour delay.

2 snowflakes: 50% chance of a 2-hour delay and a slight chance of virtual learning(25%)

Most Likely 2-Hour Delay Snowflake Predictions:

2.5 snowflakes: 60% chance of a delay and an unlikely virtual learning chance(37.5%).

3 snowflakes: 50% chance of virtual learning and a 75% chance of a delay.

Most Likely Virtual Learning Snowflake Predictions:

3.5 snowflakes: 60% chance of virtual learning and an 85% chance of a 2-hour delay.

4 snowflakes: 75% percent chance of virtual learning and 99.99% chance of a 2-hour delay at least.

4.5 snowflakes: 90% chance of virtual learning and delay chances are the same as 4 pencils.

5 snowflakes: VIRTUAL LEARNING GUARANTEE! 99.99% chance of virtual learning!

 

CHROMEBOOK RATING SCALE:

This will be used when there's a chance we get a traditional snow day rather than virtual learning when I think MCPS will not open in-person. MCPS will consider going virtual/traditional snow day, giving the possibility that there can be a traditional snow day, especially if there's a lot of snow/weather that would make virtual learning very difficult. Delay and virtual learning predictions still go to the snowflake scale.
