RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FOR ALL OF MOCO AND MOST OF THE DMV

There is currently a red flag WARNING in effect for all of the DMV except for our mountainous areas and southeastern Harford and Cecil County. The warning is in effect from 11 AM this morning to 6PM this evening. The fire weather WATCH has been upgraded to a red flag warning. Southwest winds at a sustained speed of 10-20 MPH with gusts up to 30 MPH, plus humidity being around 20-30%. Fuel moisture is 5-8%, to make for fine fuels. OUTDOOR BURNING IS PROHIBITED BEFORE 4 PM IN MARYLAND AND VIRGINIA. FIRES CAN EASILY SPREAD AND BECOME UNCONTROLLABLE IN THESE TYPE OF CONDITIONS. Due to lots of sunshine and southwest winds, temperatures may be record-breaking and 80's aren't out of the question. Those will also somewhat contribute to creating dangerous fire conditions. Do not smoke or do anything that involves fire in wildland areas as that can cause a major fire that could be uncontrollable if proper action isn't taken.

There is an elevated risk of fire for most of the DMV according to the NWS as well.
